Postage Currency
Small paper notes in denominations of 5,10, 25 and 50 cents, issued by the US federal government in 1862-63, were thus inscribed and had reproductions of postage stamps engraved on them - five 5c stamps on the 25c and five 10c stamps on the 50c notes. The earliest issue even had perforations in the manner of stamps, but this unnecessary device was soon done away with.
